Frosina and Brunswick Press are pleased to announce their co-publication of Harvey Sarner's book "RESCUE IN ALBANIA: 0ne Hundred Percent of Jews in Albania Rescued From Holocaust."

It is a little known fact of history that during the Holocaust, Albania protected its own Jewish population from Nazi occupiers while also successfully sheltering foreign Jews. After learning about this unheralded heroism of the Albanian rescuers, Harvey Sarner, an American Jew, arranged and financed the joyful reunion in Israel in 1992 of Albanian Jews (who had emigrated to Israel from Albania a year earlier) with their Albanian Muslim and Christian protectors.

Sarner was so impressed by the obvious warmth between two seemingly disparate peoples that he was moved to research the history of Jews in Albania, from Roman times to the present day story of Joseph Jakoel, the Albanian Jew who led his people to Israel in 1991. Sarner has assembled a compelling account of the amazing survival of Albania's Jews in his recently-published "RESCUE IN ALBANIA" containing much new and updated material!

Albania and the names of Albanian Muslim and Christian rescuers of Jews are now listed and commemorated as "Righteous among the Nations" at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.
